RBA meeting eyed

June 5, 2018

A day full of data ahead, with attention turning to local events.

The EUR/USD continues to edge higher, finally showing some signs of life. It opened at $1.16606, which happened to be the low of the session. It steadily climbed throughout most of the session until it peaked at $1.17437. It gave up some of those losses and is currently trading at $1.16964. The pound continues to under-perform as it fell back below $1.33. The GBP/USD opened at $1.33417 and climbed throughout early session trading. The pair eventually reached highs of $1.33983 and maintained those levels for the next few hours. It then fell away in later trading, tumbling to a low of $1.32933. It regained a small amount of those losses but it is hardly convincing, currently sitting at $1.33136.

The Dow put in another solid performance after opening at a low of 24,588.68. It was mainly up from that point. Over the majority of the session it piled on over 270 points as it hit highs of 24,862.46. It has come of those highs and is currently trading at 24,805.30. The Dax showed a lot of promise after opening at 12,747.60. The Dax reached a high of 12,841.10 during the second hour of trade. It was not able to hold onto those gains as it fell to lows of 12,705.50 a few hours later. The Dax was able to pull itself together as added some value until it closed at 12,774.50.
