Week ahead packed with data

April 8, 2019

Plenty of activity this week, with a plethora of data set for release from around the world.

The EURUSD continues to wallow in the $1.12 range, with brief spikes quickly erased. The pair opened at $1.12184 and climbed throughout early and mid-session trading before a brief spike saw it shoot to a high of $1.12447. Those gains were quickly given up however, thanks to a strengthening USD. The pair hit lows of $1.12091 late in the session and is currently trading at $1.12165. The GBPUSD struggled on Friday, briefly dipping below $1.30. The pair opened the day at $1.30722 and climbed in early trading, peaking at $1.31207. The decline began shortly afterwards as the pound fell to lows of $1.29860 late in the day. It bounced off those lows and is currently trading at $1.30348.

The Dow remained largely flat on Friday, seemingly uninspired by the jobs data that rounded out the week. The index opened at 26,391.50 and hummed along through early and mid-session trading, before a brief spike up around the time of jobs data release saw the Dow peak at 26,496.53. Those gains were given up over late trading, where the Dow hit lows of 26,363.34. It has come off those lows and is currently trading at 26,385.50.
