Data-filled week ahead

June 25, 2018

A deluge of data set for release this week could cause some volatility in the markets.

The EUR/USD added some value on Friday. The pair opened at $1.16063 and fell to an early low of $1.15993. It then rallied until it reached a session high of $1.16749. It ebbed and flowed from that point. It has opened strongly and is currently trading at $1.16665. The GBP/USD did not fare as well as its euro counterpart, although it did add some value as well. The pair opened at $1.32429 and reached a low of $1.32370 during the first hour of trade. It then began its march upwards and then hit highs of $1.33152 during mid-session trading. It then fell away, giving up some of its gains. It is currently trading at $1.32647.

The Dow performed well on Friday as it tries to reverse some of the losses it endured earlier in the week. It opened at 24,472.76 and fell to a low of 24,459.76 during the opening hour. From that point, it posted some solid gains as it made its way to highs of 24,672.72. It fell from that high shortly afterwards and is currently trading at 24,582.75. The Dax opened at 12,513.99 and posted some modest gains up to 12,577.68. It reversed all of those gains as it fell sharply to lows of 12,481.70. However, the Dax recovered just as quickly as it made its way to a high of 12,603.50 in late trading. It pulled back from those highs and closed at 12,560.90.
