Janet Yellen, Europe and UK all feature in a busy day for markets

Today is quite a busy day for announcements, headlined by a key speaker and a swathe of announcements from around the world.

Fed Reserve Chair, Janet Yellen, is due to give testimony on the semi-annual Monetary Policy Report before the Senate Banking Committee. This is quite an important event as traders try to pick up any clues in regards to monetary policy. As head of the Fed Reserve, what Janet Yellen says can create volatility within markets.

There is a number of figures being released from Europe later today that are important for markets. This information includes: German Prelim GDP, CPI & ZEW Economic Sentiment, Swiss PPI (Producer Price Index) & CPI, Italian Prelim GDP and European Flash GDP, Industrial Production and European ZEW Economic Sentiment.

There is also a host of data coming out of the UK that is crucial to the economic outlook of the country, particularly after the UK decided to leave the EU. This data includes: CPI & Core CPI, PPI Input & Output, RPI (Retail Price Index) and HPI (House Price Index).

Elsewhere around the world, Japan is publishing Revised Industrial Production data, the US is reporting its PPI & Core PPI figures and Australia is broadcasting Westpac Consumer Sentiment & New Motor Vehicle Sales. Finally, Fed Reserve Member, Robert Kaplan, is also due to speak.
